Zotasy Grocery
Privacy Policy
Overview
Zotasy Grocery helps you track groceries and expiry dates. Your grocery list, settings, and thumbnails are stored on your device. Optional AI features send limited data to Google through Firebase Authentication and Firebase AI Logic (Gemini). The app also shows Google AdMob ads (including mediation partners when configured).
Information we process
Stored on your device
- Grocery data you enter or save (item names, quantities, storage location, purchase/expiry dates, notes, categories, calories estimates)
- Reminder settings and cuisine preferences
- Signed-in Google account email and display name (to show who is signed in)
- Small item thumbnails cropped or chosen for list display
- Temporary photo files used during AI review until you save or discard
- Ad consent / UMP status where applicable
Sent to Google / Firebase when you use AI features
- Firebase Authentication: Google Sign-In creates a Firebase Auth session from your Google ID token so requests can be authenticated
- Photo extraction: the grocery photo and prompt text (including app language) via Firebase AI Logic → Gemini
- Recipe suggestions: selected item names, quantities, storage locations, expiry dates, cuisine preferences, and language preference via Firebase AI Logic → Gemini
- App Check: release builds may send Play Integrity / App Check tokens so Firebase can verify the genuine app
Advertising
- Device advertising identifiers and ad interaction data, where permitted by law
- Consent signals collected by Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) where required
- Limited device and ad data shared with AdMob mediation partners configured in the AdMob account when they serve ads
Crash diagnostics (optional)
If the app crashes, you may choose to email an encrypted diagnostic file to the developer. Reports are not uploaded automatically.
How we use information
- Display and manage your grocery list and expiry reminders
- Authenticate you to Firebase so Gemini calls can proceed
- Analyze grocery photos and suggest recipes through Gemini when you request those features
- Show AdMob banner and interstitial ads (including mediation fallback)
- Improve reliability when you voluntarily share a crash report
Third-party recipients
| Recipient | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google Sign-In / Credential Manager | Account picker and ID token |
| Firebase Authentication | Session for AI features |
| Firebase AI Logic / Gemini | Photo extraction and recipe generation |
| Firebase App Check | Request integrity on release builds |
| Google AdMob | Banner and interstitial ads |
| AdMob mediation partners (as configured in AdMob) | Ad fill when AdMob has no direct inventory |
| Google UMP | Ad consent where required |
Usage of Gemini is subject to Google’s terms and may count against quotas on the developer’s Google Cloud / Firebase project. The same recipients and data types are declared in Play Console Data safety.
Storage, backup, and retention
- Grocery list and settings remain on-device until you delete items or clear app storage
- Zotasy Grocery does not operate its own backup or sync service. If Android Backup or device-to-device transfer is enabled on your device, the Android system may include grocery data, non-sign-in settings, item thumbnails, temporary extraction photos, and related on-device files (including AI responses stored locally). Sign-in/session details and crash diagnostic files are excluded from those system backups. After a restore or phone transfer, you may need to sign in again.
- Photos and prompts sent to Gemini are retained by Google according to Google’s practices for those services
- Firebase Auth account records remain until the account is deleted
- Zotasy Grocery does not sell personal information
Permissions
- Camera — photograph groceries for AI extraction (only when you choose scan)
- Notifications — optional expiry reminders
- Internet — sign-in, Firebase/Gemini, and ads
Album import uses the system photo picker and does not require broad photo-library permission.
Advertising and consent
- Anchored adaptive banners on primary screens
- Interstitials may appear during Gemini photo extraction and recipe requests
- Where required, UMP consent runs before ads load
- Reopen ad privacy choices from Settings → Privacy policy → Ad privacy choices
Your choices and deletion
- Edit or delete grocery items at any time
- Sign out to end the local Firebase session and clear local sign-in state
- Delete account in the app: Account settings → Delete account (re-authenticates with Google, then deletes the Firebase Authentication user). You can choose whether to also erase grocery data on the device.
- Delete account without the app: use the hosted account deletion page or email groextracker@gmail.com from (or clearly stating) the Google account used in the app
- Deny camera or notification permissions (some features unavailable)
- Manage ad consent through UMP and device ad settings
- Local grocery data can also be removed by deleting items or clearing app storage on the device
Children
This app is not directed at children under 13.
